In 1779, Ebenezer Allen, a cousin to Ethan Allen, constructed a fort in Pittsford, Vt. on the property of our ancestor Caleb Hendee, Sr. to protect settlers from attack by Indians and Tories. This document, chronicling the life of its builder, was published by the Pittsford Historical Society in 1976, later annotated by Cynthia Ann Hendee Henry.
